Let’s get on with this brand new topic for the blog – Where is my Library Folder on MAC? How do I Access it? Why is it hidden?
Did you know your MAC has a Library Folder and it’s hidden? On your MAC, the library folder is used to store user account settings, Application preference files, Application support files, System Cache, and other important data that allows your Mac to function as it should. Making random changes to the library folder can cause damage to your MAC, and that is the reason why Apple hides the folder by default.
But, given that the Library folder is hidden by default on MAC, it becomes difficult for the regular user to access it. In this guide, I’ll show you how you can easily access the MAC Library folder. There are multiple ways to do so, However, I’ll be sharing the easiest method to view the hidden Library Folder.
Why is the Library folder hidden?
Remember, there is a very good reason for the Library Folder to be kept hidden, it hold all important data related to the OS & the applications installed on your MAC.
So, in case you accidentally delete files or modify them, it could cause some serious issues with your system. In short, if you are not sure what you are doing accessing the Library folder, DO NOT DO IT!
If you really want to modify contents of a folder/file in the Library Folder, I’d Strongly Suggest to backup the folder/file first.
Easiest Method to view Library Folder
One of the easiest ways to access the Library folder on your MAC is via the “Go” menu. To access the GO menu and it’s contents Open Finder.

When you open the Finder Window, You’ll notice that the contents of the topmost Menu Bar changes. The Menu Bar is designed such that it Dynamically updates itself based on the active application.
