How to Point a Domain Name From GoDaddy to Bluehost in 2020

This is the most common issues people come across while managing or building a site. You get your Domains from one service provider and the Web Hosting from another service provider. Why would one do that, you ask? Well, the answer is simple, Good offers from various providers.

Godaddy.com is the most preferred Service provider for purchasing Domain Names. They provide Domain Names as low as ₹ 99/- for an year.

On the other hand one of the best Hosting Service provider out there is Bluehost.com. Bluehost has a great uptime guarantee of 99.98%. No web host can provide 100% uptime, so 99.98% is a strong showing – it translates to roughly one hour and 45 minutes of downtime per year.

Getting back to the original issue at hand – So you got a super cheap Domain Name from Godaddy and a Web Hosting from Bluehost, now what?

What do you do, so that, if anyone types in the domain name that you got, let’s say thinkwebindia.com, remember which is on GoDaddy.com opens the website that is stored on Bluehost servers?

Confusing? I know. But trust me it is super simple once you understand the basics of it.

Domain Names are nothing but pointers to a physical space. So in order to let these pointers work properly, we have to make a route to the correct physical space, i.e., your Web Hosting Server – which is BlueHost in our case.

How to Point a Godaddy Domain to BlueHost Hosting Server?

Get the Domain Name Server names from BlueHost. This is your Web Hosting Service provider where the website is located.

Login to Bluehost using your credentials.

Once Logged into the BlueHost account. In the left bar locate Domains and click on it.

In the My Domains section, you’ll see all the domains that you have tagged with BlueHost. Click on the Manage dropdown and choose DNS to locate the DNS server address for BlueHost.

And here are your Bluehost DNS addresses. Copy these and keep it safe for a later use.

Now let’s move to GoDaddy to update the physical site address location. As of now, if someone types in the domain name that you purchased from GoDaddy will ONLY show a page from Godaddy and not the actual site that resides on Bluehost.

Anyways, once you are logged in to your Godaddy Account, click on the Account name dropdown and click on the Manage Domains option.

On the My Domains page, click on the Manage DNS to reveal the DNS addresses on Godaddy

Here you are. You have the Godaddy Nameserver Addresses. There are DNS address that we need to replace with the Godaddy DNS addresses.

Click on the Button – Change. On the next page, you’ll have the option for updating the new DNS addresses.

Paste the Bluehost DNS addresses here and click save.

Note: The DNS updation could take upto 48-72 hours to take effect. So be patient if everything is done correctly, the Domain Name that was on Godaddy will point to a physical site on Bluehost.

And that’s about it. We have successfully configured Godaddy domain name to point to a website that is stored on Bluehost. Hope this helps!

Why do realtors need an Online Booking Module in 2020

We are past half-way in 2020 and I still do not see any respite in the COVID19 situation. Businesses have been hit hard. People are not getting out of their homes and rightly so, It’s Safe to stay home. That protects you, Your family and most importantly lesser chance of community transmission.

I was speaking to a friend of mine last nite who deals in real estate, he brought this up that “What if Realtors develop their own Online Booking Module?” And just like that, it hit me like a Bus.

Real Estate business is among one of the worst hit businesses due to COVID19. How about if I can develop an Online Booking Module for Realtors, it would help them considerably.

Before we get in to the How? Let’s first understand Why?

Why do we need an Online Booking Module in the first place?

Clients are not visiting the property sites, for obvious reasons, by doing so we’ll be taking the business where the clients are, to their Homes. Clients can take a look at the Images, Videos of the property on the website and in case they are satisfied, they can pay the Booking amount right then and block the property.

Property Owners will have to be a little creative and Lenient here in order to get maximum Bookings, viz., The Booking Amount should be Fully refundable. This way clients will not feel trapped or threatened that they might lose their money in case they choose otherwise at a later stage.

An Online Booking Module will save loads of paperwork, you just select your favorite property, provide your PAN Number, maybe upload a copy of Aadhar Card and pay online. Boom! That’s it.

Need your own Online Booking Module? Give us a call or Contact us.

Lesser Known Facts About MAC Part 2

The Legendary Startup sound of MAC

Sosumi is an alert sound introduced by Jim Reekes in Apple Inc.’s Macintosh System 7 operating system in 1991. The name is derived from the phrase “so, sue me!” because of a long running court battle with The Beatles’ record label Apple Corps, the similarly named music company, regarding the use of music in Apple Inc.’s computer products. While the lawsuit was eventually settled out of court in 2007, the sound remains in OS X as Apple’s way of saying “so sue me.”
